Dance Comp

I finally got to go to one of Elizabeth's dance competitions this weekend!  I love watching her dance, she's so cute.  This weekend's comp was in Roy and we had been planning on getting a hotel for the night and making it a girls weekend, just Lu, Shannon and I.  But Shannon brought DJ because she had to take him to the ER again for an asthma attack the day before, poor kid, so she brought him with for the night.  His dad was going to come get him because he had a baseball game in the morning but with the snow they got in Draper, they cancelled it so he stayed with us.  Our hotel was in a sketchy part of Ogden, but which part isn't?  But we were in a very nice Marriott.  We got to the high school Friday and watched her dance her heart out for her solo and she did really well.  She loves dancing and it shows!
She finally danced at 7pm and we waited around until almost 11pm when they had the awards.  We were all tired and DJ slept off and on for the past hour of the night in my lap.
By the time it was over, we were all starving.  We hadn't eaten much except for the nachos that they had at the concession stand.  We got back to the hotel and Lu really wanted to get room service, she thought that would be the coolest thing.
As we were walking to the elevator, we saw a hotel employee walking past with a room service tray and Lu said "we'll be calling you in a minute!"  The girl just smiled, we get up to the hotel to find out room service is closed at 11 and it's 11:15pm!  We were so hungry!  So we decided to all go get back in the car and drive around til we found something.  We drove for a while and didn't see anything, not even the golden arches of McDonalds!  Finally get to an Arby's and got our dinner...at 11:45pm.  It was a long night.
We got back, ate our dinner and watched a little bit of the Royal Wedding coverage and finally went to sleep.  I love Marriott beds and duvet covers.  They don't give me the weebie jeebies when I lay on them like other hotels do.  I forgot to bring my own pillow so I didn't sleep very well.  At about 5am I was kind of awake and DJ woke straight up from a dead sleep and said he wanted his root beer that we had got him with his dinner.  I thought he was talking in his sleep but he said it again.  So I got it and came back to the bed with it and he didn't take it so I figured he had gone back to sleep but then he asked me for it again.  He cracks me up.
We had to be back to the school by 10am this morning.  Elizabeth did her first dance at 10:45am and didn't have another one til 2pm.  We had to park 5-6 blocks from the school and didn't want to have to leave to get something to eat for lunch even though we had a really good breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel.  And we figured there had to be people leaving so maybe we could move our cars to a closer spot.  So we went out to the parking lot to find spots, Shannon stood in the spot and I ran to the car to move it.  I did that 3 times for my car, Shannon's car and her friend's car.  Shannon got flipped off by someone for doing it, too!  We didn't care though, we didn't want to have to walk all the way back to the car with all of Lu's dancing stuff.
While we waited for her next dance we went and hung out in the practice gym for a bit.  This is what DJ did for most of the time we were there, I'm glad I brought my iPod in so he could play Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and Stupid Zombies, it really entertained him.
We watched Lu dance with some of her friends and play around.
I love her shoes for her hip hop routine, they are so dang cute!
She was done dancing by 3:30 then we left.  We were all so tired and weren't waiting around for awards again that wouldn't be until later tonight.  I loved spending so much time with them and really hated saying goodbye to them.  Even though DJ will be 6 this month, he wanted me to carry him around everywhere which I gladly did, one because I love him and two because it was so crowded in that school I felt better holding onto him.  My arms are paying for it now but I would do anything for that kid and I love that even though we don't see each other as much as we would like, he still loves me and knows how much I love him.
Elizabeth did awesome, I'm so glad I got to watch her.  I'm taking my mom next weekend.  She was a die-hard dance comp mom when I was growing up and she loved every minute of it so I know she'll enjoy watching Elizabeth.

Easter Activities

We went to my parents house on Saturday for egg coloring, egg hunting and lunch.  It was fa-reezing and we were coloring eggs outside.  We hurried and got them colored.  Chelsie and Brian haven't been here for the past couple of years to celebrate Easter with us, so we broke Brian into our egg coloring.  It was fun to have us all together.
Gavin really wanted to eat the eggs.
Branson thought the color cups had juice in them and wanted to drink it.  We kept telling him not to but eventually we just told him to dip his finger in there to show him it was yucky since it had vinegar in it.  He tasted it and pulled a funny face but went back for more, silly boy!  The boys had fun hunting for their eggs, eating all the candy and Branson loved playing with his new bubble gun.
We had a great lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon together.

We went down to Salt Lake on Sunday to celebrate Easter with Josh's family.  We had planned to go to a park, have a BBQ and play baseball.  Josh and I left early so we could get down to The Gateway to go to the Apple store.  We were idiots and thought they would be open on a Sunday.  I don't know if it was because it was Sunday or if it was because it was Easter but they were closed.  We drove around where Josh grew up, past his Grandmother's two houses and around Liberty Park.  Josh and his little brother Shane used to ride their skateboards all around down there further than anyone would dare let their children go now.  It started getting colder and the clouds were rolling in so we decided to have a get together at Rosie's.  Everyone was able to make it and it was great.
Shannon had been in the ER the night before with DJ.  They had been making cupcakes that looked like chicks for Easter the day before and DJ had been playing in the coconut flakes for them.  He started getting a headache and said he didn't feel well.  Shannon took his temp and he was getting a fever.  By the time she got him to the ER he was 104.5.  They finally decided he was having an allergic reaction to the coconut but couldn't figure out why his temp was so high.  They had a room ready for him at the new Riverton hospital instead of making them go to Primary Children's but Shannon wanted to take him home.  They got his fever down and they finally got home at 5 am.  He was clingy and still didn't feel good and I loved every minute of his clinginess.  I miss him, Lu and Noah so much.  I miss spending everyday with them and knowing them so well.  They've grown so much in the past 3 years and I've missed so much.  Noah is growing into such an awesome kid.  We convinced him to show us his dougie dance and the kid is awesome.  He used to like to break dance and now is in a hip hop dance class, and he is killing it in his baseball games.  He is going to have some serious girl problems when he gets older, he's so cute!  Elizabeth is such a sassy little girl.  She cracks us all up.  Josh said he didn't like water from the tap and Elizabeth said "now you know what I have to deal with!"  She's hilarious!  I'm excited to go watch her dance comp next weekend.  And DJ is my sweet bub.  He has started playing baseball and is playing the catcher.  When he was 3, he was hitting the ball further than Noah could.  He's a natural athlete.  Those kids melt my heart like no one else can.
Shane and Kindred were there with their kids Owen and Tycen except Lucy who was with her mom.  Austin and Alicia were there with baby Raedyn.
You can see on DJ's face that he doesn't feel well but loves to hold baby Raedyn.
Shannon got the kids bubbles as part of their Easter so they all went out onto Rosie's balcony to blow them.  Their had been pigeons flying in and out of her patio and the kids found 2 pigeon eggs in the corner.  I didn't dare get any closer and I hope the mom and dad come back for them after the kids had been playing out there even though we told them over and over again not to get close to them or touch them.
As Shannon, Arnold and the kids were leaving, she yelled for me to come out and bring my camera and I saw this.  I love baby duck ducks!
It was such a nice, fun weekend, eating lots and spending time with our family.

He Is Risen

This is beautiful.  The miracle and real reason we celebrate Easter.  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!

“My beloved brothers and sisters, in our hour of deepest sorrow, we can receive profound peace from the words of the angel that first Easter morning: 'He is not here: for he is risen.'
“As one of His special witnesses on earth today, this glorious Easter Sunday, I declare that this is true, in His sacred name—even the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior—amen.”

Look what I found outside today...
daffodil
I love daffodils.  They look so happy to me.  I didn't know I had a couple of them that had bloomed on the side of our house until I opened the blinds this morning and looked down.  I'm still waiting for the tulips to pop their heads up.  I've got lots of them all over our yard and I'm excited to see them, that's when it's officially spring to me.
It's rained so much lately, at least it's not snow, and we've been lazy all weekend.  I've been sick for the past couple of days with a good spring cold so I've spent the weekend on the couch with my tissue.  We've watched a lot of Netflix getting Josh caught up on Season 1 of Glee.
Yesterday was finally nice and warm.  I did my glitter toes out of excitement of finally being able to wear flip flops without losing my toes to hypothermia.  We went over to Cody and Tara's for dinner.  They got a new grill and we had the first BBQ of the season!  They boys spent the night playing Black Ops and Tara and I watched the new Harry Potter, love it and can't wait for the last movie!  Tara always spoils me when we're over there.  She knew I hadn't felt well so she made me some yummy wassail to sip on during the movie.
I've loved opening the front door and smelling and listening to the rain this weekend.  It's so soothing to me.  But I'm not liking the mud that is coming in our house on my dogs' paws.
I'm excited for Easter next weekend.  We're coloring eggs and having lunch at my parent's on Saturday.  If the weather will cooperate, we're going to have an egg hunt for our nephews outside like we used to do when we were kids.  Then we'll be going to Salt Lake on Sunday for Easter dinner with Josh's family.  I love Easter and have lots of fun memories of the holiday as a kid.  We always got a new outfit or two and toys to play outside with.
I love the holidays but then I dread them at the same time.  It's fun watching our nieces and nephews and seeing their excitement but it's hard at the same time.  I want our own kids to build traditions with like my parent's did with us.  I think that's one of the hardest things about infertility, at least to me, aside from the ache of wanting a child that never goes away.  I want to build a family with my husband and have family traditions.  I love all the traditions we had as kids and my parent's do a good job of keeping them going even though we're all grown up and married.  And I want to keep them going with a family of our own.

Ugh, Seriously?!

So it's the 7th day of April and it's freaking snowing!  It's been a really crappy start to spring so far.  I know we need the moisture for the summer but I'm all for the rain, not the snow.  I've had enough of the snow.  It started raining this morning and by 1:30 this afternoon the snowflakes were coming down and were huge cotton balls.  I came home early since my doctor is gone and cuddled on the couch with Ringo and Josh and watched my Oprah Behind The Scenes I had recorded.  Man, I love that lady.  I don't want May 25th to come.  Anyway, I'm off subject back to the snow.  I don't want anymore of it.  Yesterday was so nice and then today we get this.
snowy branch
more snow
And this weekend is Baby Animal Days in this horrible weather!  I was going to go with my mom, Brit and the boys but not in this weather!
Come on Spring, hurry and get here!

This "Spring" weather really sucks.  Friday was warm, sunny and in the 60's but it's been cold, rainy, windy and snowy all weekend.  My crocuses aren't liking it at all and neither am I.  Another weekend inside.  I hope it warms up soon, like really soon!
