24th Of July Part 2: Grandpa's Birthday and Fireworks

We went back to Rosie's after the parade and took a nap since we'd been up since 5 am.  I woke up at 4 and decided to go home instead of going to the big rodeo.  I stopped at my Grandpa's house in Brigham for his birthday party on my way home.  It was fun to see everyone.  Gavin was lovin' on Letha.
  f
Branson found the trampoline and LOVED it!  He was a little cautious at first but then didn't ever want to get to get off.
He was having so much fun jumping with Raylin and laughed so hard watching Porter jump high.
Since all of my Grandpa's kids were there we decided to have a family picture.
Josh, my mom, Chelsie, Brian and my Uncle Garth's kids are missing.
My Grandpa, Judy and their kids.
With their spouses, except my mom who was down in Spanish Fork with her sisters.
Then all the grandkids, except Josh, Chelsie, Brian and Garth's kids.
I got home and Josh and I went to the fireworks at Willow Park.  They were kind of lame and we got eaten by mosquitoes but I love fireworks!
This one looks like a flower to us.
I hope everyone had a Happy 24th of July!

24th Of July Part 1: Days Of '47 Parade

We had a fun 24th of July weekend.  We celebrated 163 years since the pioneers settled in Utah.  I went down to Josh's mom's house on Friday to spend the night.  We were going to the big Days Of '47 Parade early Saturday morning.  I've never been to that parade before so I was pretty excited to go.  It's a big tradition in Josh's family, and that's why he doesn't like parades!  So I went down by myself while he stayed home to take care of our dogs and Cody and Tara's dogs while they were in LA for the weekend having fun without us!
So I met Rosie and Austin when I got down there for dinner.  We went back to Rosie's house and we went to bed early so we could get up extra early to get to the parade route to find a spot.  Luckily Austin and his friend, Alicia, went down to the parade route at 2 am and got us a great spot!  We got downtown at about 7:30 am and sat there for the next 2 hours before the parade started.  When we got there they were having a 5k, so we watched the runners and walkers of all ages pass by us.
Rosie, Austin and Alicia passed the time by playing a couple of games of UNO.
It was some good people watching, and there were guys with carts going around selling random stuff including the horns that people were blowing during the world cup.  One word: ANNOYING.  Every kid HAD to have one, too!
The view up and down the street.
The guy lying on the ground just got done running the 5k and was doing some stretches for us lucky viewers...gross.
On to the parade:
The Mormon Battalion.  I don't know how those women wore those dresses.  It was so hot!
Dieter Uchtdorf from the 1st Presidency.  I really wanted to see President Monson, oh well.

The floats:
This brought tears to my eyes and made my heart swell.  I'm so grateful for our troops who fight for us daily.
I love Clydesdales!

The Creep Show: I hate clowns.
It was so fun to have Tycen and Lucy there to watch the parade with us.  Those kids are so cute.

Lucy was so cute waving at all the horses.  She loved it.

I'm so glad I went.  It was so fun to spend time with my family and see the parade for the first time.

Weekend

Josh and I went to see
last weekend with my mom and I loved it!  I went again today with Tara, Cody and Atty.  So excited for Breaking Dawn even though it's not coming out until November 2011!  I'm also so excited for Harry Potter to come out!
Josh and I cleaned out a room in our basement since it got some mold, so that was our excitement for the weekend!  My dad came over and cleaned our carpets for us, they were so dirty.  We still have a lot of cleaning out to do and we need to go through our storage room and see what we don't need/want anymore.  That room is packed so it's going to take forever!  We have way too much stuff for two people.
Tara and I got up bright and early Saturday morning and went to Zumba at our gym and then laid out by the pool.  I thought it would be cold being out there in our swim suits at 8:30 in the morning but it actually felt pretty good!  The sun wasn't scorching hot!
Elizabeth went to her first concert last night.  Who else would an 8 year old girl want to go see...JUSTIN BEIBER!!  I wish I could have gone with her just to see her reaction.  Not sure I could deal with all the screaming girls.  I'm not sure what my first concert was, I think it was Tim McGraw at the Blackfoot Fair like 100 years ago.  I'm sure I wished my parents would take me to a New Kids On The Block concert when I was 8!
Also Happy One Year Anniversary to Chelsie and Brian!

Proud To Be An American

Happy 4th!  I love this holiday!  I love being an American and am so grateful for my freedom.  I'm so thankful for all of the service men and women who fight to protect our country every day.
God Bless America.
