Injured

So Josh had been 35 for all of about 24 hours when as he says "his body failed him".  He was going to play racquetball with Cody and Dr. Garg Saturday morning at 9:30.  Well, with his work schedule on the nights he doesn't work he won't go to bed til 3 or 4 AM.  So I woke up at 9:30 and was panicked that I slept that long and Josh needed to be at the gym like, now.  So he hurried and got ready to go, forgetting his good gym socks...and his ankle braces.  I got up and got in the shower and started cleaning the house, when I got a call from Cody.  He said Josh hurt his foot, thought it was broken and was headed to the ER with Garg.  Cody came  and got me so I could get the Jeep from the gym and head to the hospital.  His ankle was a little swollen when I got there and they were just getting ready to take him to get xrays.  He said he went for the ball and rolled his ankle then his upper body weight came down on it and he heard a pop.  He told me it hurt really bad and felt stupid at the gym because he was rolling around on the floor, cussing and saying that it was broken. He said that he's a guy, he's sprained his ankle so many times.  But it's never hurt like this.  The ER doc came in and did his assessment then went to look at the films.
While he was doing that, Jimmy the ER nurse came in to talk to him again.  We asked him if it was a sprain what the popping noise was.  He said it was probably the ligament rolling over his ankle bone...um ouch.  The doc came back in and said he didn't see anything broken, it was sprain.  He then told us the popping noise was probably the ligament rolling over the ankle bone which can be very painful and make a loud pop noise.  They asked him if he wanted anything for the pain, he said no.  He's terrified of pain meds.  Crutches?  No.  So they said to do the RICE (RestIceCompressionElevate) method and to take ibuprofen for the swelling and pain.  So I went and got the car to bring up front.  By the time Josh hobbled into it he was in tears again and writhing in pain.  I felt so bad for him, there was nothing I could do.
We got him home, elevated it, wrapped it up and put some ice on it.  The wrap lasted about 10 minutes before it was killing him.  He camped out on the couch for the rest of the weekend playing Black Ops while I was nurse, babying him and getting him anything he needed.
On Sunday, it was a lot more swollen and really sore.  He couldn't take more than a couple steps on it.  He was on a steady schedule of ibuprofen every 6 hours.  I couldn't believe there wasn't any bruising.

Joshs' little brother, Austin and his girlfriend Alicia decided to come up and see us with their new baby boy, Raedyn.  We felt really bad while they were here because we are so boring.  We just sat here and watched TV and talked.  Raedyn is so cute and loved loved loved Josh and Josh loved him.
(I can't wait to see Josh look at our child like this)
I'm not going to lie, we've had a hard time being happy when other people have babies.  It goes a lot deeper than that but my family reads this blog so I don't want to hurt any feelings.  We've never not loved Raedyn, don't get me wrong, it's just been hard.  I don't understand things sometimes but that's another post for another day.
We were so happy they took the time to come up and see us.  Austin is such a good little brother.  The only thing that kid wants to do is serve and make others happy.  He was so attentive and in love with his baby boy.  I didn't get a picture of the three of them together, next time.
So today at work, everyone was asking about Josh's ankle.  Since Tara and I work at the hospital and the nurse in the ER does clinicals with Welter on Mon and Tues, that's all we talked about.  Welter was concerned for Josh all weekend, wondering if he needed anything for the pain.   I work for the best docs!  Josh said it was doing better today when I talked to him on the phone.  He had school tonight and thought he would be okay without any crutches.  When I got home from work I wrapped it up so he could walk on it at school.
Now the bruising is setting in and it's bruising in totally different places than we thought it would.  It's not quite as swollen but is still sore.  He thinks he'll be back playing racquetball this weekend, yeah we'll see.  He was able to get around okay at school tonight so that's an improvement.
Josh said now that he's 35, it's all down hill from here...He over-reacts just a little.

Josh's 35th!

Josh turned 35 today.  He thinks his life is over...he says it all down hill from here.  I had to work half a day today so Welter and Cody took Josh out to lunch.  They went to a new place here that is like Rodizio Grill, so he ate a chicken heart again...ewww!  We went over to Cody and Tara's for dinner.  We had decided like a week ago that she would make him brisket, he was excited for more meat after lunch!  It was yummy though.  Josh isn't a big cake fan but likes ice cream cake.  Tara has a cake pan that can make one so she did and it was so good!  It was vanilla cake with Rocky Road ice cream in the middle, his favorite.
They got him a new headset to play Black Ops with so he can talk to Cody and Atty through that instead of the Kinect.  And they got him a box of popcorn and movie tickets.

We watched the Jazz lose again, don't know what's going on with them, then they played a good couple of hours of Black Ops.
I hope you had a good birthday, birthday boy!  You are my greatest blessing.  I love everything about you, you were meant for me.  Happy Happy Birthday.

Health Fair and Bunco

There was a huge health fair going on Friday and Tara and I were asked to go represent our clinic for the day.  It went from 12-6pm at Stevens-Henager.  There were tons of different companies there.  Tara and I did blood pressure checks and handed out lots of cards and water bottles.  There were so many different departments of the hospital there we took up two rooms.  We had the Emergency Dept and the Lab on one side of us and Respiratory Therapy on the other.  We had lots of fun and laughs together when there was a lull in the crowd.  They put our room on the local TV station and luckily we didn't have to do any talking!  After the TV interview was over our marketer ordered pizza for all us.  It started to die down after the first couple of hours.  It was fun getting paid to sit there though, especially with Tara.
I left a little early so I could get up to Riverdale for my first Bunco party.  Vicki, who is one of my best friends from growing up, asked me to be in their group this year.  I was excited to play but nervous at the same time. There are 8 girls in our group and I went to school with 6 of them and hadn't seen most of them since we graduated a very long time ago!  I got there late but we had so much fun.  It was so good seeing those girls again and to catch up on what everyone is up to.  I didn't take any pictures because I didn't want to scare them right off the bat!  I thought I'd spare them seeing the crazy camera lady on the first night!  Maybe next month...

Birthdays

I took my mom out to lunch for her birthday on New Year's Day since her birthday was the 2nd.  We went to one of our favorite places, El Sol.  We had a good time together just the two of us.  I love that lady!

My brother's birthday is the 5th and  his wife had planned a surprise party for him at their house.  Well Jade figured it out so it wasn't a surprise anymore...but it was lots of fun!
us B&W
We just hung out at their house, ate and played games.  Jade got some old school games on Netflix that the boys were having so much fun playing.  Branson got a tunnel with a tent for Christmas and wanted everyone to go lay down in his tent and play with him. We played a couple of games of UNO before we had to leave for Josh to get to work.  I just realized I didn't get any pics of my brother...anyway Happy Birthday Mom and Jade!

Welcoming 2011...A Year Of Hope

We didn't really have any plans for New Year's this year, we're exciting like that!  We went to a party at Pioneer Valley Lodge with Cody and Tara for a bit to hang out with the retired people who live there.  They had a buffet and a country band playing.  It was fun hanging out with them for the night before Josh had to go to work at 10.

After Josh left for work, I watched the New Year's Eve shows that were on.  I really wanted to go down to Eve in Salt Lake but it was a high of something below zero during the day so I wasn't going to go stand out in the cold all night for that but I watched it on TV and was happy to be warm on my couch curled up with my blankie and furbabies!
I got my first kiss of 2011 from Ringo since Josh wasn't home...he's cute so he'll do.

On to 2011, this year I'm doing my best to stay positive.  We started trying for a baby again in October.  I'm on a higher dose of clomid than I was before.  So far no luck, obviously.  I was having a really rough day and usually when I'm down I don't answer the phone.  I don't want to talk to anyone because I don't want to bring them down with me and I just don't feel like talking.  Well Shannon called me that night and for some reason I answered the phone.  I tried my best to sound chipper and happy but there are three people who can read me; my mom, Josh and Shannon.  She reminded me of what I need, hope.  So that is my theme for this year.  Hope that one day I'll be a mother.
I hope 2011 is the year.  This is going to be our year.
Happy New Year!
